Heres my BELOW THE LINE ad, I pretty much did a two in one design. I designed a pamphlet and bookmarks. This will be sent via mail/email which provides the audience with information such as elevates initiativec, contact details and ways to sign up! The bookmarks are cut into the pamphlet, which allows the lads to easily push it out, and use it as a bookmark for their school books/novels… im quite happy with the results!

process: punching the punchlines

Never knew that trying to come up with an effective but catchy tagline could be so challenging. But iv come up with a few which im extremely happy with! The main concept of the campaign is called Man up. The idea of allowing these boys to rethink what there doing and to be a man about what they could do! The Punch lines are quite effective. They play a major pun on the illustration. I consider them to be quite satirical.. Its humorous, but straight to the point with its message!

so far iv finalised 5 Above the line tags and 5 ads!:

Teenage sexuality: Man up: Have a threesome - Add a condom to the relationship and stay clean

Drug abuse: Man up: Lay off the drugs - Winding up in hospital isn’t cool.

Drug abuse: Man up: DONT DO IT! - Struggling to breathe in the long run isn’t fun

Common courtesy: Man up: Have common courtesy - A real gentleman offers his seat to a lady

Teenage health: Man up: You are what you eat - Don’t be a sloppy joe!

Teenage health: Man up: Exercise your life - Feeling and looking fit. Girls love it

SO far im really happy with these concepts! I tried them out on a few people, seems quite effective with expressing its vital message!

process, PROcess, PROCESS!!

Ahhh so its all about process when it comes to designing. My problem is im too much of a perfectionist, I hate having things half done, or I know that theres more potential to the original idea! SO scrap the old ads i made, with the fluro crappy colours! I dont know why i didnt stick to my colour swatch palette of my standards sheet, but I stuck to a standard colour which is a nice off white/creamish brown! The ads are fun, wacky, quirky and satirical.. All fun, with a serious message! SO here goes, I made sure to cover the most important aspects which are: teenage health, sexuality, drug abuse and common courtesy!

Guerrilla advertising!

Guerrilla advertising, never thought it would be this challenging… guess what? it kinda smacked me in the face! trying to think of a way to get in contact with these school boys!

So I sat my self down, thinking to my self… Where and how can i get these lads with the guerrilla advertising. It was monday arvo, 3.50PM, from central to holsworthy! It was the end of school time and it was time to go home for these boys! I was in the main carriage amongst a few other school boys, they were chatting away and mucking around! They began to talk about graffiti tags that were scribbled with thick markers on the doors and walls of the train. They had a good laugh about about the Cityrail stickers with its travel rules and rail map, beginning to peel them off!

AN IDEA CAME TO MY HEAD!

It seems to me that 90% of school kids stay in groups in the main middle carriage, letting other people sit in the top n bottom decks. So most definitely, there facing the map and stickers! My idea is to recreate those stickers look as realistic as they can be. Covering the main issues of teenage sexuality, teenage health, drug abuse and common courtesy! I think it will be really successful and effective!

Cant wait to give it a shot! should be sweet!

How am I advertising?

In every advertising campaign there are 3 main methods into which allows you to categorise your publications!

1 - Above the line (ABL)

2 - Below the line (BTL)

3 - Gorilla advertising

Understanding these three types of advertising methods, allowed me to further understand and conceptualise my designs. So after jotting down what I wanted to do and how I was going to do it. Here are my ideas.

Above the line: Poster advertising -

Cross track - A cross track is a billboard advertisement situated across the train tracks in Australias city rail stations. A cross track is a great way to advertise an ad as it gets the most recognition from day to day commuters who catch the train! This being the case, alot of school goers catch public transport to school and other destinations due to not being able to drive or not owning a car. This will be an effect way to promote Elevates message!

Bus side - A Bus side is an ad placed on moving buses. This is also an effect method as alot of school students catch the bus to and from school and other destinations.

Bus stop billboard - Another great place to advertise these ads are at bus stop billboards, where it kind of forces those who are waiting for a bus to look at.

Below the line:

Pamphlet: A pamphlet design will be made, this will be used to send out via email and post. It is an effective way of promoting Elevate. Providing information such as its mission, its role and its contact!

Elevates advertising in progress!

Hey hey tumblers!

Its been a while since iv uploaded something up in this joint, I do apologise… seems like stress and an overload of work has smacked me across the face! Nevertheless, its taken me a while to get used to a blog… im more of a traditional, ideas on paper kind of guy! but here goes!

So, looking into Elevates advertising campaign, the target audience are lads from 13 to 18 years of age! This being the case, I didnt want to stick to the cliched photographed + text advertising. I wanted to promote Elevate in a more satirical way… humour with a serious message! I always found that this method was a more effective way with connecting with a young audience.

The most important part was coming up with a tagline… A slogan that will be easily remembered, but effective in expressing its message! and a great example is Nike’s tagline, “Just do it!”

The ideas that came into mind included: Harden up, Grow up, Not cool…, Man up. Boys to men, Head on, Arise, what if, elevate and beyond, Lay off the drugs, Have a threesome, Have common courtesy…

But after brainstorming a fair bit, the tagline chosen for elevates advertising campaign *drum roll* ended up being Man up! This will be an effective tag line that will cover the important topics such as Teenage sexuality, Teenage drugs, Teenage health and Common Courtesy!

Really cool and effective pepsi ad! I thought this ad was executed quite well! its all about turning advertising into a really big joke, that has a funny message by the end of it!
